Cows v.s. Horses
Like all children I grew up with a fondness for horses. My barbies had horses. I had horse figurines and books about them. I would dream about them. Horses are majestic, powerful and fast. They are beautiful, sleek and magical. And I spent many years drawing them, as they are, as unicorns and with wings. At the zoos, I would seek out the zebras and marvel at the many different markings. Are they white with black stripes or black with white stripes? Horses are romantic.
Now, all I can think about is cows. They have a certain level of honesty and humility. When I observe them they don't put on any airs about themselves. Cows aren't concerned about how they look or appear to others. They are just who they are. The young ones are curious and engaging. They don't seem to be bothered by anything. And they bond with each other. Are protective of one another. And are so much more interesting to photograph!
