Thoughts on Somi - "Ginger Me Slowly"

This was shared by one of my Facebook friends and i just love it on so many levels. That i just want to talk about why.

The images are in black & white which not only sets a mood but also makes the viewer focus more on the images. These are very simple techniques which have been around as long as photography has. It is a light show against the absence of light. Playing against/on different surfaces. Sometimes the images are out of focus and we are treated to different looks of Somi. Her partner in the video has a small part, just enough to show that the song is about the desire to not rush the process of courtship or by-pass it completely. The desire to savor every moment.

The pace of the song is slow and even. She doesn't rush and plays with the viewer through eye contact. The images are also evenly paced, just long enough to enjoy them. A perfect blend of sound and images.
